Chorley’s young people this week launched the design of their site hoardings that will sit around the perimeter of our new Youth Zone building whilst the build progresses.

Here at Chorley Youth Zone – ‘Inspire’ – we pride oursleves on making sure young people are the key voice in their Youth Zone and our Young People’s Development Group, who have had their say from day one, including creating the brand name for their Youth Zone, have worked with local design agency, Fertile Frog, to create some eye-catching designs.

The young people’s hoardings describe three key factors of the Youth Zone: ‘Pride in Chorley’, ‘Branding and Values’ and the ‘Youth Zone offer’ and they are fixed on the outer site of the Youth Zone building site on Railway Street and Chapel Street, by contractors H.H. Smith & Sons.

Meggan Boon, a member of the Chorley Youth Zone Development Group said: “On behalf of the group, the boards that have been made are bright, colourful and have everything on them that we said we wanted. The images of us on the boards express how proud we are to be part of the new Youth Zone. These boards will make people stop and pass-by people will be interested in what is going on in the building site. Thank you everyone that is involved in making the new Youth Zone as this is to be the heart of the community and this will bring everyone from different backgrounds together.”

Councillor Alistair Bradley, Leader of Chorley Council said: “It’s great to see work now well underway with the Youth Zone and we look forward to having a fantastic facility here in Chorley for all young residents of the borough to enjoy. There is some disruption while the work takes place, but all the businesses in that part of town close to the bus station are open as normal and we’d encourage people to keep supporting them while the construction work takes place.”

Now that demolition of the Leigh Arms pub is complete, work is starting on the foundations followed by erection of the steel frame of the Youth Zone. The Youth Zone is scheduled to open in spring 2018.

Becoming a Founder Patron of Inspire Youth Zone is a chance for the local businesses and philanthropists to create a legacy for the future of Chorley. Their support and endorsement of the project will serve to encourage others to invest in the future of the town’s young people.
