EMPOWERING OUR YOUTH

This month, Adlington Satellite Youth Group welcomed local councillors to its Friday night session, a chance to show the impact the group is having on young people and the wider community.

Delivered by us, the Adlington provision has been running for around four years and now engages more than 20 young people each week, rising to nearly 50 during the summer months.

Funded in part by Chorley Council, the session has become a vital space for young people to feel safe and supported, something local leaders are seeing firsthand.

County Councillor Kim Snape said:

“Adlington Youth Group is an incredible example of what happens when young people are given space and support to grow. It’s been brilliant to hear from residents about the positive impact it’s having on both young people and the wider community.”

A Growing, Youth-Led Space

From cooking and sports to wellbeing workshops and team challenges, sessions are shaped by young people and what matters to them.

The focus is simple: give young people somewhere to go, something to do and someone to talk to.

Lisa, Detached Coordinator, has seen that impact develop over time:

“When I started, I had an idea and a lot of hope. Seeing how this group has grown, in confidence, friendships and energy, has been incredible. The young people have really shaped it into something they’re proud of, and so am I.”

Real Stories, Real Impact

One of our regular attendees stories reflects the difference the group has made. When Freddie first attended, he struggled with friendships and confidence. Through support and an inclusive environment, he’s now built strong relationships and feels a genuine sense of belonging.

“I come here on a Friday as all my mates come and there’s lots to do. I like seeing everyone. I do a lot more, I like it here.”

Backed by the Community

The group’s impact is being seen across the community. Adlington Satellite has also been chosen as Charity of the Year for Adlington Carnival! A reflection of its place and value locally.

Looking Ahead

Visits like this councillor session highlight what makes Adlington Youth Group so important.

As the group continues to grow, its focus remains the same – supporting young people to be the best version of themselves, with their voices and experiences at the heart of everything.
