North-West family retailer ROCCIA donates £10K to Inspire, Chorley Youth Zone to support food access and education for thousands of local children and young people.

Located in the heart of Preston, ROCCIA have the largest independent tile, bath & kitchen showroom in the whole of the UK. ROCCIA was inspired to support Chorley Youth Zone after learning about the incredible work the charity does around food poverty, education and community support.

Karen Hunter, Head of Fundraising and Communications at Inspire, said: “We are absolutely delighted to welcome ROCCIA to our Inspire family, and have their support dedicated to our hot, healthy meals initiative! Inspire Youth Zone provides over 34,000 heavily subsidised hot after-school meals for children aged 8-19 every year, and thousands more free meals for those children in need of extra help.

As well as addressing the immediate needs of food poverty, we are working hard to change the narrative and empower our young people to take control of their diets through basic nutrition and cookery skills. Our Learning Kitchen teaches young people basic nutrition and cookery skills in a fun interactive way. We hope that these sessions will encourage families in Chorley to make healthier choices, and give children key life skills that will help them thrive at home and in school.

ROCCIA Managing Director, Zabir Patel says “We are delighted to support the Inspire Chorley Youth Zone on this fantastic initiative, helping to ensure local children have access to nutritious healthy meals, and also learning some fundamental kitchen skills that will benefit them in the future.

Being a family-run business, that has grown exponentially from a small scale tiles shop to a nationwide home solutions provider, we hold a strong commitment to giving back to the community. And it is an honour to be able to include the Chorley Youth Zone into our foundation work.”

The donation from ROCCIA follows ongoing support from Chorley Building Society who has been supporting the charities food proposition since September 2021. During the festive period alone the youth zone gifted over 3,000 free meals and food parcels to families needing extra support.

In addition to the youth zone, ROCCIA dedicates support through their foundation to many other local organisations including St Catherine’s Hospice, Bolton Hospice, and their own weekly ‘Feed the Homeless’ stall in Preston flag Market.
