A Midsummer Ball organised by Forbes Solicitors and Handelsbanken has raised £9,300 for a national youth charity based in Chorley.

The event was held at Shaw Hill Golf Resort and Spa Hotel, Whittle-le-Woods and was attended by more than 130 guests from the local business community.

The evening was held to raise funds for Inspire Youth Zone, which aims to help young people to develop new skills and socialise in a safe, positive and accessible environment.

The Chorley Youth Zone, named Inspire by local young people, is a purpose-built facility for the town’s young people, based in the heart of Chorley on Chapel Street. A similar event last year raised £7,654.

Janine Blythe, Chief Executive of Inspire Youth Zone said: “Last year’s Midsummer Ball was going to take some beating and this year has surpassed all expectations!

“We’re so proud to be affiliated with such incredible businesses and the wider Chorley community that have hosted and attended this event to fundraise for Inspire Youth Zone – what a fantastic night.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended, as well as Forbes Solicitors and Handelsbanken Chorley for organising the event and therefore helping to change the lives of Chorley’s next generation.”

The event took place on a glorious summer evening and as the sun set on a fantastic day, the guests at the Ball took part in a charity auction containing a number of incredible prizes such as a luxury evening for four watching a Wigan Warriors rugby match with private chauffeur service in a Bentley.

The money raised will help Inspire to deliver the amazing support and activities they have become famous for in their first year, which saw over 75,000 visits and 5,400 members sign up since opening.

Richard Clithero, Partner at Forbes, said: “Inspire does amazing work to help the young people of Chorley and provide them with some wonderful opportunities.

“We are extremely grateful to all of the local businesses who gave donations for the raffle and auction and we are delighted to have been involved in such an amazing event.”

Julia Monks, Branch Manager at Handelsbanken, said: “After the success of last year’s event we vowed to do it again.

“To be able to surpass last year’s total was a fantastic achievement but this couldn’t have happened without the amazing support of all those who attended and all those who supported the event.  It was a fabulous evening of great food, company and entertainment.”

With running and delivery costs at Inspire Youth Zone costing £1 million each year the independent children’s charity, is hugely reliant on the generosity from the public and private businesses, across Lancashire, to support and raise funds for over 90% of their costs.
