After a whirlwind first calendar year, Inspire now has over 5,000 registered members at the Youth Zone, meaning that 1 in every 3 young people in Chorley are now members.

In May 2018, Inspire hosted over 2,000 people at their opening day event which was widely anticipated for months leading up to the Youth Zone finally welcoming the public through the doors of the £4.8 million building for the very first time.

At the time of opening, Inspire had registered over 1,000 members and in the subsequent months, that number rose to a staggering 5,000 by the end of December.

In 2018, Inspire Youth Zone has exceeded all expectations that were initially set by senior members of staff and OnSide Youth Zones – the charity network which Inspire is a part of.

They had hoped to reach 4,000 members, which would have been 1-in-4 young people, but through the hard work of the incredible volunteers, young members and dedicated staff at the Youth Zone, this target was smashed ahead of schedule.

Ryan Powell, Youth Work Manager at Inspire Youth Zone, is proud of the incredible statistic and hopes to build on the hard work throughout 2019.

“We knew that there was a huge interest for a Youth Zone in Chorley, but we’re humbled and so full of pride to be able to boast over 5,000 members registered here at Inspire.

“2018 saw a lot of amazing events and activities on offer, but we’re committed to making 2019 even bigger and better – watch this space, because we’re only just getting started!”

Last year saw Inspire host several wildly popular events including a number of seasonal parties and trips, a huge Halloween event and Chorley’s very first Pride event.

These events coupled with the numerous, ever-changing activities on offer each night kept the young people of Chorley returning to the Youth Zone for more and ensured a rising membership each month.

Inspire would like to thank all of their supporters from 2018 who helped raise money for the charity, made generous donations throughout the year or gave up their own time to change the lives of young people in Chorley.

The continued support of Chorley and it’s welcoming community ensures the Youth Zone is able to consistently deliver the best activities and opportunities to young people at an affordable price and in a safe environment.

Inspire Youth Zone is open to young people aged 8-19 and up to 25 for those with a disability, 7 days per week for just 50p per visit. If you’d like to register a member, sign up today for only £5 by visiting www.inspireyouthzone.org/new-member
