20 teams from leading businesses in the North West gathered at Shaw Hill Golf & Country Club on 22nd August to take part in a golf day raising £7,346.28 for Inspire, Chorley Youth Zone.

The competition, sponsored by Cruise 118, ran throughout the day after a shotgun start at 1pm and despite early signs of bad weather, the rain was ‘inspired’ to hold off for the children’s charity and the golfers taking part.

After a hotly contested round of 18 holes the winners were found in the form of Woodland Clay Company who amassed an incredible 97 points under the captainship of Adam Howarth.

Two years prior, the Woodland Clay Company team snatched second place at Inspire’s inaugural golf day but went one better on this occasion to finish in first place, taking home a prestigious gift to remind them of the day and more importantly one year’s worth of bragging rights.

After a wonderful day of golfing, guests settled into their seats for the evening event consisting of a three-course meal, charity auction and raffle.

Prizes included a 2 ball at world famous golf course Royal Birkdale, a signed & framed photo of Carl Foggerty MBE, and a fully stocked Kahula table-top fridge.

The incredible generosity of local businesses coupled with a range of great prize donations aided in raising over £7,000 for Inspire, Chorley Youth Zone – funds that will make a huge difference to the charity.

Karen Hunter, Head of Fundraising at Inspire said: “We’d like to extend our thanks to everyone that took part in the day and for making the event one we will never forget!

“As a children’s charity, we rely on the generous support from the local community and every penny raised goes towards changing the lives of Chorley’s next generation.

“This golf day was one of the best events organised by Inspire to date thanks to the incredible support we received – here’s to next year!”

With running and delivery costs at Inspire, Chorley Youth Zone costing £1 million each year, our new children’s charity is hugely reliant on generous fundraisers from local businesses and members of the public to support and raise funds for over 90% of our costs.
