Thanks to Onside Youth Zones and Snow-Camp Charity, we have an amazing opportunity for a selected number of young people, offering access to snow sports qualifications and training as well as an incredible, once in a lifetime trip at the end of it.

The opportunity is a place on Snow Camps “Graduate” and “Excel” programmes. The Graduate programme is a 12-day (over 6 consecutive weekends) skiing, life skills and leadership programme which then leads into the Excel programme, a 10-day programme taking place over the Easter holidays which will include 7 days skiing in Italy!

As part of the Graduate programme, young people gain an ASDAN Level 1 in Sports and Fitness upon completion of the course, taking place across October and November. The Excel programme is comprised of advanced snow sports training over March and April, with assessment by Snow Sport England and 20 hours shadowing their instructors during a 7-day residential trip to the Alps. Life-skills sessions focus on careers and the theory of teaching snow sports including vocational training and employment skills with presentations from snow sports industry representatives. Students receive a Snow sport England Instructor L1 qualification and a First Aid and Safeguarding Certificate.

Any young people wanting to attend from the North West would complete the Graduate programme at Chill Factore in Manchester, 9.30am – 5pm, Saturdays and Sunday’s starting the 20th October 2018, running for the subsequent 5 weekends. Young people will need to make their own way to and from Chill Factore for these 5 weekends. If you need to chat about transport, please mention this in your application.

We need to have applications in by 16th October 2018 at the latest. We appreciate this is a tight time-scale, but this opportunity is not to be missed!

We’re looking for individuals who have an interest in sports, coaching, gaining life skills or seeking new qualifications. Ideally, we are looking for young people aged 15-19, but 14 years of age should not be problem if we can discuss with the young person and parents/guardians beforehand.

To apply, please email ryan.powell@inspireyouthzone.org with your name, a short bio about yourself and why you’d be perfect for this opportunity.
