Twelve months after construction began, Chorley’s brand-new Youth Zone, Inspire, moves closer to completion. As the overall look of the building transforms, excitement and enthusiasm grow, as nearly 200 young people sign up to become members.

Located on Chapel Street, Inspire Youth Zone is a £4.8million facility, designed and built especially for young people from Chorley and the surrounding areas. Open 7 days a week, the Youth Zone will provide a safe and inspirational place for young people to try fun and engaging activities, meet new friends and develop their interests, resulting in healthier, happier young people.

Construction on site is progressing well and is on track to be completed by April 2018.

Externally the building is watertight, with all cladding in place.

Glazing has been installed which has enhanced the overall look of the building.

Internally, the building is beginning to take shape with mechanical and electrical work continuing. The basement area is nearing completion, ready for installation of the underground 3G kick pitch, which promises to be a popular area for young people of all ages.

Once complete, Inspire Youth Zone will host an impressive sports hall, dance studio, fully equipped gym, boxing ring, arts and crafts room and much more, over three floors.

Over the next few weeks, a group of young people from Chorley will work together with the Inspire team to design interior artwork that will be displayed in the Youth Zone.

Janine Blythe, Chief Executive at Chorley Youth Zone said “The building looks absolutely fantastic and promises to be an incredible facility, the likes of which Chorley’s young people have never seen!

“The response from the community has been brilliant, not only have we had almost 200 young people register to become members, but we are seeing more and more local people register to become volunteers – Chorley Youth Zone is shaping up to be an inspirational place for both young people and adults!”

The Youth Zone is being run in partnership with Chorley Council, Lancashire County Council, The Arts Partnership and OnSide Youth Zones.
