A Summer for the Community

No day has been the same this Summer at Inspire (except the wet weather!)!

As a children’s charity, we are here to provide a safe space for young people when schools are closed… and that’s exactly what we did. We opened our doors every single day for our free holiday club and coordinated the entirety of the town’s HAF provision. At Inspire alone, over the 5 weeks, we have supported 100’s of children in receipt of benefit related free schools, providing them with a range of activities and over 2000 free meals. We’ve offered a variety of activities for our young people to enjoy including baking, arts and crafts, sports, beauty and, of course, dance parties!

Additionally, our Scran Van headed out each week, going to the hardest to reach communities, ensuring young people have access to free hot food and drinks. We provided nearly 600 meals through our Scran Van service during this time.

We also had the opportunity to provide a well deserved break for carers of our SEND members every morning. Inclusion runs through everything we do. We provide a supportive environment for all young people aged 8-19 and up to 25 for those with additional needs.

Our members enjoyed time to hone their DJing skills, delivering a selection of great music and entertainment enjoyed by all our staff. This time was also used perfecting their various skills in arts and sports.

Alongside our Summer Clubs we also opened to the community, giving a warm space, free coffee and a soup for Inspire Invites which operates all year round and is a community initiative for those age 25+. It’s a fantastic opportunity to have a great time and connect with your community. Currently we offer a variety of activities ranging from walking football with Chorley FC to Crafts and of course, a good old-fashioned game of PROPER Bingo.

This Summer has definitely been one to remember and we thank our dedicated Green Team for their hard work in providing some amazing memories for our various communities. We wish our Young People a great first week back at school and we’ll see you very soon for the start of our EPIC projects and clubs.
